Inflammatory Diet Linked to Colorectal Cancer

Proinflammatory diets—those high in processed meat, red meat, refined grains, and sugar-sweetened beverages—may increase risk of colorectal cancer for both men and women, research shows. The study, which followed over 121,000 adults for 26 years, found that among colorectal cancer cases, participants who consumed highly proinflammatory diets had a significantly higher colorectal cancer incidence rate compared to those who consumed less proinflammatory diets.
