Eat Less Sugar to Quickly Boost Health

Cutting down on sugar can significantly improve the health of children and adults very quickly, researchers say. Studies suggest that diets high in simple sugars, specifically fructose, increase the rate at which sugar is converted to fat and liver fat. Removing fructose from the diets of obese children for only nine days reduced fat and liver fat, and improved glucose metabolism. Results for adults were similar. Reducing or removing fructose, in the form of added sugars, like high-fructose corn syrup, from one’s diet can cause quick improvements that can lead to reduced risk of obesity, fatty liver disease, and type 2 diabetes.
