At Last! FDA Proposes Labeling of Trans Fats

Prompted by evidence linking trans fatty acids to increased risk of heart disease, the Food and Drug Administration has proposed new labeling rules. (Trans fats, formed when unsaturated fats are hydrogenated, are prevalent in margarines, baked goods and snack foods.)As part of FDA's proposal, foods that list saturated fat content would have to include trans fats in that total.
