Though Americans increasingly depend upon supplements to augment their health, sifting through supplement claims to find reliable information can be challenging. Understanding the way supplements are regulated is essential to making an informed choice. It’s true, many dietary supplements, from vitamins and minerals to herbals, seem to get away with exaggerated promises—and it’s because they fall into a regulatory "gray" area.
