Making the Most of Dairy-Free Milk Alternatives

If you avoid milk, you’re part of a growing group. Many people cut out milk for a variety of reasons, such as intolerance to lactose, reducing animal fats and cholesterol, avoiding synthetic growth hormones or antibiotics used in dairy production, following a vegan diet, or catering to special food preferences. EN doesn’t advocate a milk-free diet for everyone, but if you choose to cut it out of your diet there are plenty of options awaiting you in the supermarket or natural food store. Soy, almond, rice, hemp, oat and coconut milk are some of the choices widely available, and there are many variations of beverages within these groups.
