Proposed Double Pyramid for Nutrition and Eco-Impact
ENís been saying it for awhile: a healthy dietary pattern for humans also happens to be healthy for the planet. And now thereís a wonderful report from Italyís Barilla Centre for Food and Nutrition (BFCN) that offers proof. At an open debate of food policy experts held on October 12, 2010 at the European Parliament, BCFN presented scientific rationale for a double pyramid that marries the well-known food pyramid with the generation of greenhouse gases, water use and ecological footprint.
