Looking for the Honest Truth in Bottled Tea Beverages
Cool, refreshing bottled teas are all the rage. With a boost from the widely touted antioxidant health benefits of tea, sales are booming. Unfortunately, some bottled teas contain as much sugar and calories as cola, a number of artificial ingredients, and little of the real stuff—tea. In fact, Oregon State University researchers found that the antioxidant activity of bottled teas they sampled was 10 to 100 times lower than conventionally brewed tea. Enter Honest Tea, a bottled tea beverage that boasts, "Nature got it right, we put it in a bottle."
