Ginger: Pungent, yet Soothing to the Stomach
Ancient civilizations valued ginger for its tangy taste and medicinal properties. Research now suggests that the antioxidant polyphenol gingerol, the active ingredient in ginger, may indeed have medicinal effects, easing indigestion and acting as a potent anti-inflammatory for those with arthritis, for instance.
