Want to Know Your Body Fat? Home Scale Is Convenient, Accurate
Q. Iím thinking of buying a Tanita, the bathroom scale that also measures body fat. Is it accurate? A. There are no 100% accurate methods for measuring body composition (muscle-to-fat ratio), but according to several studies, the Tanita scale comes pretty close. At least under research conditions, Tanita scales have proved as accurate as the more sophisticated gold standard techniques of dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) and underwater weighing. Why measure body fat?
